Your voice matters, and we’ve been listening. Today, we’re thrilled to announce a series of exciting improvements to Albums. These changes were inspired by your suggestions to make album management more convenient and less cumbersome.
We can’t wait for you to experience these new organizational tools and hope they exceed your expectations! Here are a few highlights of what’s new:
Search your albums
The “Albums” tab now gives you the ability to search your albums based on keywords used in album titles and descriptions. Click on the search icon near your album covers to activate the album search.
Reorder your albums
You can now reorder your albums and create new ones directly from your profile’s “Albums” tab. You no longer need to go to the “Organize” tool to do so unless that’s your preference!
Custom sorting and preferences remembered
When viewing a specific album, you can now add new photos and sort them directly from the album page. And the most thrilling part is that Flickr will remember your preferred sorting method for each album individually, so new photos added to the album will be sorted according to your preference for that album. Sorting options include date taken, date uploaded, alphabetical, random, and manual. See the complete list of sorting options below:
New album view
Enjoy larger versions of your photos, see photo titles at a glance, and easily access key actions, such as faves, comments, or adding options, underneath the photos (instead of on hover).
Coming to the Flickr app next…
Some of the above mentioned changes will also be available on the Flickr app for iOS and Android in the coming weeks. That update will include:
The ability to choose a sorting option for your albums and have your preferences remembered
We’re adding a sort ↑↓ icon in the album view, offering various sorting options for displaying the photos in your album (by date taken, date uploaded, alphabetic, etc.). Your preferred sorting method will be remembered by Flickr for future ease of use.
The ability to reorder photos within your albums
Easily rearrange your photos within an album using drag-and-drop when in selection mode.
Other small UI changes
We are relocating the “share” option, which was previously hidden in a menu, to the top header of the album view, next to the three-dot menu.
For iOS users: We are introducing a “Select” button to simplify the process of entering selection mode and choosing the specific photos you want to share.

In case you missed it, there’s one more big organizational update we recently released:
New layout option for viewing your own Photostream
With this new layout option available on your Photostream page, you can now see more information about your photos at a glance, such as the number of faves and comments.
This is a particularly significant improvement for touchscreen devices, where members cannot hover to see this information on the regular layout.
All these improvements are mobile-web friendly, so you have the best experience across devices.
